The global economic and social crisis; values, spirituality and the transpersonal
Rudolf Steiner forecast the current crisis 100 years ago.
What caused the global financial, economic and social crisis? How will it affect international trade, global warming, the environment, social and political issues and our personal lives? What is the role during these fundamental changes of values, ethics, spirituality, religions and the transpersonal? Does transpersonal psychology have a part to play?
Finally I came across Rudolf Steiner again today who nearly 100 years ago wrote:
“ What spiritual forces have been expended so that one may draw a cheque in America and cash it in Japan...... personality can still keep a hold on itself – for example the development of the banking system in the second half of the nineteenth century......Perhaps it is only for future historians to show clearly that a fundamental change then came about when the whole banking system was thus brought into the personal sphere by the personal talent that directed it. Today you see banking affairs becoming impersonal. Capital passes into the hands of joint stock companies. Capital begins to control”
