A thirteen years old boy, terminally ill, gave the possibility to see how the school faces all the problems related to illness, death and mourning in school aged people.
In this regard CREDS since 1983 started to do research and projects in schools.
Many interesting witnesses have been collected, children from different countries were interviewed, and all the data were collected in the book “Children tell… the death. Considerations on life” b Clara Serina Eds.
Culture tries to remove the topic on “death and mourning”, hoping so to preserve the others from pain and suffering, especially during childhood and adolescence.
Facing the necessity to deal with symptoms coming from mourning and pains not expressed we worked on an educational project in primary and middle schools.
Emergency situations, education on end-life, mourning for illness or divorce, trauma due to catastrophic events or unexpected life changes.
Clara Serina, Psychoanalyst and psychotherapist, founder and president of CREDES since 1987 – PSIMEOS School of Holistic Psychological counselling.
She works on helping families and schools. Professor at the school of Psychology at the University of San Paolo in Brazil. She supervisor for psycho-pedagogic educational projects in the Auxilium Convent School in India.
